Since I began my career in personal training almost a decade ago, my mission has been to inspire others through fitness to live with passion, spirit, and thoughtful intention. I have worked to give my clients the best training possible, have always had a passion for anything involving mind, body, and sport, and have found CrossFit to be in complete alignment with my training beliefs. I have followed CrossFit for years by doing some workouts with friends, but it wasn't until I joined CrossFit Balboa in 2011 did I realize that CrossFit was exactly what I was doing, multiplied exponentially because of the community that I became part of. Getting involved in CrossFit has changed my life. CrossFit is the perfect platform to improve human performance, inspire my clients to live better, and to lead more passionate lives. We here at CrossFit Vibe hope to create a space where people come to push themselves within a community of others who train with purpose, learn how to battle their minds, find awareness of their bodies, and have a ton of fun. I also train to compete in regional and national CrossFit competitions to better both myself and my community.
After graduating from Cal State University, Long Beach with a Business Marketing degree, I did a lot of soul searching when it came time to looking for a career path. I held several jobs in sales and consumer marketing when I finally realized that my passion was for my own health and fitness and to inspire others. I decided that personal training and nutrition were the areas that best fit my personality and interests. I heard about CrossFit through a friend and decided to sign up for the certification course in October 2009 without any prior CrossFit experience. On the first day of the Level 1 Certification Course, I did “Fran”. I was sore for five days with swollen biceps and I was hooked. I mean who else wouldn’t be right…? Prior to CrossFit, I was an avid runner and had run over a dozen half marathons and the LA Marathon. Running and doing CrossFit has given me PR times that no other training has. CrossFit has changed my life and I look forward to the opportunity to continue sharing my experiences and introducing the value of the CrossFit methodology to newcomers, friends and family.
For as long as I can remember, I have always been an athlete. I played baseball, hockey, wiffleball, basketball, soccer, football and even underwater freeze tag! Let's just say I enjoyed playing outside with friends and being active. This is what I found so attractive about CrossFit the moment I got involved. I'm playing with my friends again and being active at the same time! The amazing community, the sense of accomplishment, and the physical and mental strengths I've gained are what pulls me back to the gym everyday. I have been a CrossFit coach since 2015 and truly love seeing my friends and fellow athletes getting stronger and healthier every day. Some of my other hobbies include: ice and roller hockey, softball, and fantasy sports - after all, I AM the CrossFit Vibe Fantasy Football Champion!!
My adventures in CrossFit started in April 2012 after a couple of girlfriends convinced me to come to CrossFit Vibe. What started as a one-week trial, turned into a one-month commitment to get ready for an upcoming vacation in Hawaii and before I knew it, I was a regular at the box. Later that year I went to the CrossFit Games for the first time, witnessed the power of the community and by then I was sold. About a year into crossfitting, I started to re-assess my career goals and began to think about everything that brings inspiration to my life. I found that the activities that I not only worked the hardest for but also felt the most accomplishment from had always involved helping others. Being surrounded by everyone at Vibe who wanted to help me grow athletically and personally made me realize I wanted to do the same for others. So with the support of the Vibe team as well as it’s members (family really), I passed my CrossFit Level I Trainer Certification, started interning at CrossFit Vibe and became a coach in November 2013. While I still decided to keep my day job, I look forward to coming to the box every afternoon whether it’s to coach a class or train with my fellow Vibers. Aside from attaining my certification and coaching, my CrossFit experience includes competing at several local competitions and participating in the CrossFit Open for the last few years. Outside of CrossFit, I’m a SoCal kid – born and raised – who enjoys life through arts and crafts, baking, eating, and doing all of the above with friends and family.
I am a former Continuity Coordinator for a radio station turned stay-at-home mom and CrossFit Coach. Fitness has always been important to me as I grew up running track. I was introduced to CrossFit by a friend because I was tired of going to my same old gym and I was looking for something different. She told me about this great workout she had tried called CrossFit, a workout where you get to lift weights and compete for your best times. I have a little competitive streak in me and I love a challenge, so one morning I walked into a box and went every day for one week straight. I was sore as hell, but I never looked back. CrossFit quickly became a huge part of my life which motivated me to get my CrossFit Level 1 Certification. For the last few years, training at CrossFit Vibe has not only become a lifestyle choice for me but is a community and provides a great workout. The box is a great place to train and to have fun doing it as well. In addition to coaching CrossFit classes, I run a boot camp for women in Long Beach. I enjoy helping people meet their personal fitness goals and hope to inspire them to be the best that they can be.
I am a husband and father of a wonderful, energetic and loving daughter. I was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico and grew up in Laguna Beach, CA. I have been a fitness and health professional for over a decade and enjoy helping others set and achieve personal goals by utilizing custom programming to maximize their full fitness potential. I have competed in local fitness competitions and play soccer in a local league and am always looking for ways to push myself to the next fitness level. I have also launched a few diet challenges that promote healthy eating habits and constantly remind all my athletes that nutrition is key to successfully reaching their fitness goals. I believe that competitions are a great way, if not the best way, to put your skills and training to the test.
Born and raised in the Midwest, I was a collegiate football & track and field athlete at Wartburg College in Iowa. After graduation, I quickly realized that was missing something from my workout routine and that's when I found CrossFit. The principles of CrossFit fulfill my passions about my progression as an athlete and as a human being not only in the physical sense but psychologically and spiritually as well. It simply shapes my life for the better. I love watching my fellow athletes push themselves through a workout to the point of exhaustion, much like I do myself in competition. There's just something about suffering with people that brings the community together. Outside of CrossFit, I work as a facilities coordinator at Pacific Union Financial, am engaged to be married, and my spare time, double as Kevin Bacon.
